Các bài luận tiếng Anh thi vào 10 chuyên

I. Đoạn văn, bài luận (paragraph) là gì?

Đoạn văn là một phần văn bản ngắn, chứa ít nhất 1 câu và bắt đầu tại một dòng mới. Đoạn văn thường đề cập tới một sự việc riêng lẻ, một mô tả hay ý tưởng nào đó.

Trong các đề thi vào 10 chuyên Anh, yêu cầu viết đoạn văn thường là đoạn văn dài 150 từ. Lưu ý: bạn không được xuống dòng khi viết đoạn văn.

II. Bố cục của đoạn văn tiếng Anh

Bố cục của một đoạn văn có ba phần chính: câu chủ đề (topic sentence), các câu hỗ trợ (supporting sentences), và câu kết luận (concluding sentence).

1. Câu chủ đề (topic sentence)

Đây là câu đầu tiên của đoạn và cho người đọc biết chủ đề của đoạn cũng như thông báo cho người đọc biết người viết sẽ viết gì về chủ đề đó.

Trong câu chủ đề có 2 phần chính: phần chủ đề (topic) và ý tưởng chủ đạo (controlling idea).

Phần ý tưởng chủ đạo chính là phần giới hạn nội dung của đoạn, cho người đọc biết rằng đoạn văn chỉ nói đến những khía cạnh nào đó của chủ đề thôi chứ không phải những khía cạnh khác.

Ví dụ: với đề bài trên thì câu chủ đề có thể là: Sau khi học xong em muốn trở thành giáo viên tiểu học vì một vài lí do (After finishing my education, I want to become a teacher at a primary school for several reasons.)

Câu chủ đề này thông báo cho người đọc biết chủ đề của đoạn văn mà người viết sẽ viết là về nghề nghiệp sau khi em học xong cũng như lý giải các lí do lựa chọn nghề nghiệp đó.

2. Các câu hỗ trợ (supporting sentences)

Các câu này nằm sau câu chủ đề và dùng để giải thích thêm cho câu chủ đề hoặc đưa ra các ví dụ minh hoạ. Thầy viết mẫu các câu hỗ trợ cho chủ đề trên như sau:

The first reason for my choice of job is the inspiration derived from my own teachers at my primary school. They were as kind-hearted and dedicated as my parents, which contributed to rendering my experience at school significantly more enjoyable and meaningful. They also taught me numerous wonderful things about various subject matters and set shining examples to me through their human dignity. (Lí do đầu tiên cho việc lựa chọn làm nghề giáo viên của em chính là nguồn cảm hứng được khơi dậy bởi chính những giáo viên của em ở tiểu học. Các thầy cô tốt bụng và tận tuỵ như cha mẹ em, điều mà góp phần khiến cho trải nghiệm của em ở trường học vui và ý nghĩa hơn nhiều. Các thầy cô còn dạy cho em muôn vàn những điều kì thú về những chủ đề khác nhau và là những tấm gương sáng ngời về nhân phẩm. Tiếp đến, tình yêu trẻ cũng là một lý do giải thích cho ý định làm giáo viên của em. Làm việc với những đứa trẻ vô cùng ngây thơ và đáng yêu có thể giúp em quên đi những muộn phiền và rắc rối em có thể gặp phải trong cuộc sống thường nhật. Cuối cùng chia sẻ kiến thức là điều em muốn thực hiện/theo đuổi khi làm giáo viên. Em luôn khát khao được chia sẻ kiến thức của bản thân cho người khác và giúp họ mở rộng chân trời kiến thức, điều mà có thể có ý nghĩa lớn lao trong việc theo đuổi thành công của họ trong tương lai.)

3. Câu kết luận (concluding sentence)

Đây là câu cuối cùng trong đoạn. Câu này có thể diễn đạt lại câu chủ đề bằng từ ngữ hoặc cấu trúc câu khác hoặc cũng có thể diễn đạt lại các ý chính đã trình bày trong các câu hỗ trợ.

Ví dụ: In general, I want to work as a teacher at a primary school in the future because of my being inspired by my primary-school teachers, my affection for children, and my aspiration of sharing my knowledge with other people. (Tóm lại, em muốn trở thành một giáo viên tiểu học trong tương lai vì em được khơi nguồn cảm hứng bởi các giáo viên tiểu học của mình, vì em yêu trẻ và vì em muốn được chia sẻ kiến thức với mọi người).
